Warner Bros. Pictures And Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group Start Production On The “Dukes Of Hazzard” Prequel
(June 13, 2006 - Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Home Entertainment Group fire up the engine on the "Dukes of Hazzard Prequel," a direct-to-DVD release that began shooting June 12th in the Los Angeles area. The prequel charges hot off the wheels of the successful 2005 theatrical release, "Dukes of Hazzard," which starred Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott and Jessica Simpson. The "Dukes of Hazzard Prequel" features some of young Hollywood’s hottest rising stars including Jonathan Bennett ("Cheaper by the Dozen," "Mean Girls") as Bo Duke, Randy Wayne (ABC’s "Sons and Daughters") as Luke Duke, and April Scott ("Entourage," "Deal or No Deal") as Daisy Duke. Country legend, Willie Nelson, returns from the 2005 cast and reprises his role as Uncle Jesse. Other cast members include Chris McDonald ("Rumor Has It," "Broken Flowers," "Happy Gilmore") as Boss Hogg, Sherilyn Fenn ("Gilmore Girls," "Boston Public," and "Twin Peaks") as Lulu Hogg, Harland Williams ("Dumb & Dumber") as Rosco, Joel David Moore ("Dodgeball," "Art School Confidential") as Cooter, and Trishelle Cannatella ("The Real World," "Las Vegas") and Jennifer Hill ("Ice Queen") as curvaceous twins Ali and Brooke Handy.
Synopsis
When mischievous teenaged cousins Bo Duke (Jonathan Bennett, "Mean Girls") and Luke Duke (Randy Wayne, ABC’s "Sons and Daughters") are arrested, both boys are paroled to the care of their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson) in Hazzard, sentenced to a summer of hard work.
It's not long before the Duke boys learn of Boss Hogg’s (Chris McDonald) plans to foreclose on Uncle Jesse’s farm. Together, with help from their frumpy cousin Daisy (April Scott, one of Maxim’s 2006 Hot 100), Bo and Luke vow to save the family’s property and its storied history of producing the best moonshine in all of Hazzard. Driving through Hazzard in the "General Lee" blasting its famed Dixie horn, the Duke boys join forces to make Boss Hogg’s life miserable, concocting one crazy scheme after another.
The action-packed film contains wild car chases and crashes, Daisy's hilarious, but ultimately successful transformation into every Hazzard boy's fantasy girl, and all the fun, sexy comedy expected from the "Dukes of Hazzard."
The "Dukes of Hazzard Prequel" is being produced by Bill Gerber and Hollywood Media Bridge’s Phil Goldfine. Gerber is returning to Hazzard County, as he was also producer of the successful 2005 "Dukes of Hazzard" theatrical release. Bob Berlinger (ABC’s "Sons and Daughters," "Arrested Development") will direct this hilarious prequel. The production will be shooting throughout Los Angeles in June and July 2006 for a DVD release in 2007.
This is the first production from the new venture between Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group.# # #
