Warner Bros. Pictures To Release “The Matrix Reloaded" On May 15, 2003
(July 10, 2002 – Burbank, CA) – On May 15, 2003, Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment, will release “The Matrix Reloaded,” the highly anticipated second installment of the Academy Award-winning blockbuster “The Matrix.” The third installment, “The Matrix Revolutions,” will be released later in 2003. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.
“'The Matrix’ is one of the most innovative, exciting and influential films in entertainment history, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to ignite Summer 2003 with the release of ‘The Matrix Reloaded,’ the spectacular second chapter in the Matrix trilogy,” Fellman said.
“The Matrix Reloaded” reunites producer Joel Silver and writer-directors Larry and Andy Wachowski with stars Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss and Hugo Weaving, who reprise their roles from “The Matrix,” the acclaimed action thriller that won four Academy Awards, accumulated over $460 million in worldwide box office and was the first DVD title to sell one million units.
Joining the cast of “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions” are Jada Pinkett Smith (“Ali”), Harold Perrineau (HBO’s “OZ”), Harry Lennix (“Collateral Damage”), Monica Bellucci (“Malena”), Nona Gaye (“Ali”) and twin brothers and renowned karate experts Neil and Adrian Rayment.
Also returning to the dual productions to reprise their artistry from “The Matrix” are Academy Award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor John Gaeta and Special Effects Supervisor Steve Courtley; Director of Photography Bill Pope; Production Designer Owen Paterson; Oscar-winning Editor Zach Staenberg; Costume Designer Kym Barrett; Oscar-winning Sound Recordist David Lee; and master fighter Yuen Wo Ping, the choreographer and wire team leader of the highly innovative fight sequences in “The Matrix” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”
“The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, an AOL Time Warner Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures. # # #
