“Anderson” Adds 39 Markets for Fall 2011 Launch
(December 20, 2010 – Burbank, CA) – This past week, another 39 stations have bought the rights to air “Anderson” starting in fall 2011, bringing the clearance level to 79 stations representing more than 65% of the country for the highly anticipated new talk show hosted by Anderson Cooper. The announcement was made today by Ken Werner, President, and Rick Meril, Executive Vice President/General Sales Manager, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.
New clearances in the major markets include: KTVU (San Francisco), WXIA (Atlanta), WDIV (Detroit), KPHO (Phoenix), WFTS (Tampa), KTVD/KUSA (Denver), WOIO (Cleveland), KDNL (St. Louis), WPXI (Pittsburgh), WCMH (Columbus), WHTM (Harrisburg), WVTM (Birmingham) and WWMT (Grand Rapids), among many others.
“The momentum for this show is robust,” said Meril. “It is rare in syndication that so many stations so quickly and aggressively embrace a program. It’s truly exciting that in the case of ‘Anderson’ stations are recognizing this show for both its instant wide-ranging appeal as well as its long-term franchise potential.”
In all, stations from groups representing the Allbritton, Capital, Citadel, Cordillera, Cox, Fisher, Fox, Freedom, Gannett, Hearst, Hubbard, LIN, Local TV, Media General, Meredith, Midwest TV, Morgan Murphy New Vision, Newport, Northwest, Raycom, Sarkes Tarzian, Schurz, Scripps, Sinclair, Smith Media, Titan and Tribune station groups have bought the new daily series.
Like his predecessors Oprah Winfrey and Phil Donahue, Anderson will create a daily destination for multiple generations of women looking to be informed and entertained, gain perspective, have a voice and stay connected to each other and the world around them. Anderson will address water cooler topics from the big celebrity interview one day to the personal story behind the headlines the next. From undercover investigations to hidden camera experiments, the show will give the audience new perspective in an effort to gain insight into relevant issues and social trends affecting women’s lives.
The series will be based in New York City and produced by Telepictures Productions in association with StrongChild Productions and Anderson will serve as an executive producer.# # #
