“Extra” And Match.Com Join Forces To Help Dr. Sean Find Love On The Web

(April 24, 2001 – Burbank, CA) - The nationally syndicated television magazine series “Extra” and Match.com, the leading online dating service, are working to help “Extra’s” medical correspondent Dr. Sean Kenniff look for his ideal mate via the Internet. Beginning Thursday, April 26th and continuing each Thursday throughout the month of May (May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31) with the grand finale airing Thursday, June 7th, “Extra’s” female viewers and net surfers will be invited to register their personal profiles online to be considered for a night on the town with Dr. Sean, one of the original “Survivor” castaways. Potential dates can enter by logging on to AOL Keyword: Extra, www.extratv.com or www.match.com/extra. Three finalists will be chosen for dates with the good doctor, all vying for the final date, a weekend at Club Med’s Cancun resort in Mexico. Concurrent with Dr. Sean’s date search, AOL’s Online Advisor and “Extra’s” Internet Contributor, Regina Lewis will host “Extra’s” weekly online polling segments focusing on a variety of issues relating to finding love on the Internet, as well as invite viewers to select which of Dr. Sean’s prospective mates they like best. In keeping with recommended safety rules for taking an online romance offline, Regina will also join Dr. Sean when he meets his dates for the first time in person. Ultimately, Dr. Sean will determine his ideal match for the cyber-dating finale at the Club Med resort, which will be featured on the Thursday, June 7th broadcast of “Extra” and posted on the show’s web site (www.extratv.com). “It’s estimated that more than 10,000 couples who’ve met on AOL have gone on to marry. It’s the modern way to meet and you can’t argue with the success rate,” said Lewis. “I’m excited to help Dr. Sean and hope by replicating the real-life experience people have when they look for romance online, we’ll inspire a lot of people to give online dating a try.” “Today there are many eligible singles using online dating services to meet their match,” said Cynthia Hennessy, President, Match.com. “We’re delighted that three lucky Match.com users will have the opportunity to go on a date with Dr. Sean. He’s extremely eligible, and like most of our users, he’s professional, educated and sincerely looking for a quality relationship. Match.com’s technology matches Dr. Sean’s interests and desires with other singles on the site, and we’re confident he’ll have a positive experience.” “Extra,” a Time Telepictures Television production, is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and is a part of AOL Time Warner. For more information on “Extra” reports please visit “Extra” at www.extratv.com or AOL Keyword: “Extra.”
