“Miss Congenialty” Receives Golden Globe Award Nominations For Star Sandra Bullock And Best Original Song

(December 21, 2000 – Beverly Hills, CA) – New comedy “Miss Congeniality” has been honored with two Golden Globe nominations. Star Sandra Bullock received the nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and the film’s featured song, “One in a Million,” with music and lyrics by Bosson, is among those selected for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture. Nominations were announced this morning by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The film, also produced by Bullock, will be released nationwide this Friday, December 22. “Miss Congeniality” tells the story of an unrefined FBI agent who goes undercover as a contestant in the Miss United States beauty pageant in response to a terrorist threat to blow up the pageant. The film also stars Academy Award winner Michael Caine, Benjamin Bratt, Candice Bergen, William Shatner, Ernie Hudson and John DiResta. It is directed by Donald Petrie and written by Marc Lawrence & Katie Ford & Caryn Lucas. Lawrence also serves as executive producer along with Ginger Sledge and Bruce Berman. Ford also serves as co-producer. Laszlo Kovacs is the director of photography; Peter Larkin, the production designer; Billy Weber, the editor; Edward Shearmur, the composer; Susie De Santo, the costume designer; Steve Schnur, the musical supervisor; and Scott Grossman, the choreographer. Castle Rock Entertainment, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment presents “Miss Congeniality.” The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures. Castle Rock Entertainment is a Time Warner Company. Award winners will be presented January 21 during NBC’s live telecast of the 58th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, at 8:00 PM EST.
