“Moral Court” Earns Upgrade In New York

(January 2, 2001 - Burbank, CA) - Freshman one-hour court series “Moral Court” has been upgraded in New York, moving from 1:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., effective Monday (January 8), on WWOR-TV. The series is replacing back-to-back episodes of “To Tell the Truth.” With this move, the series now airs in desirable time periods in the country’s top three markets (KCAL-TV in Los Angeles upgraded the series in October from 1:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the series airs at 2:00 p.m. on WCIU-TV in Chicago). “Moral Court” has performed very strongly in the nation’s number-one market at 1:00 a.m. In its first sweep period in November, the series earned WWOR-TV’s highest share all day among Women 25-54 (15 share) of any strip programming new or returning (including news). Among households in November, “Moral Court” earned the station’s highest share (7 share) of any new strips, first-run or off-net (“Arrest & Trial,” “House Calls,” “To Tell The Truth,” “Spin City” or “Jamie Foxx”). In addition, the series grew WWOR-TV’s time period numbers in November among women by double and triple digits from a year ago. “Moral Court” finished second in its time period among Women 18-34 (behind only Telepictures’ “Street Smarts” and “Change of Heart”) and tied for first among Women 18-49 (with “Street Smarts”/“Change of Heart”) and Women 25-54 (with the second half of “Oprah” and news). Among Women 18-34, the series earned a 0.9/13, improving November ‘99’s 0.3/7 (“News Radio”/“Married with Children”) by +200% in rating/+86% in share. Among Women 18-49, “Moral Court” averaged a 1.1/16, up +267% in rating/+167% in share from the previous year’s 0.3/6, while with Women 25-54, the series earned a 1.2/15, up + 300% in rating/+275% in share from November ‘99’s 0.3/4.
