“Space Cowboys” Awarded Hochi Newspaper Film Award For Best Foreign Picture

(December 11, 2000 – Tokyo, Japan) – “Space Cowboys” has been awarded the prestigious Hochi Newspaper Film Award for Best Foreign Picture, it was announced today by Bill Ireton, Managing Director, Warner Bros. Pictures Japan. The Hochi Newspaper Film Awards are given to predominantly Japanese films (with the exception of the Best Picture categories) based on a poll given to the newspaper’s 1 million readers as well as a selection committee made up of well-known Japanese film critics. The award ceremony will be held December 27th at the Akasaka Prince Hotel. “We are pleased and proud that ‘Space Cowboys’ has captured the hearts and imagination of Japanese moviegoers,” Ireton said. “We are also tremendously honored and grateful to the Hochi Newspapers for recognizing our film with this award.” Warner Bros. Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner star in "Space Cowboys," also starring Marcia Gay Harden, William Devane, Loren Dean, Courtney B. Vance and James Cromwell.
