At MIPCOM, WBITVP will continue discussions with production companies and global broadcasters about the licensing of “The Bachelor” local format rights. The development and production of the local versions will be supervised for WBITVP by Ronald Goes, Executive Vice President and Head of International Television Production, and Andrew Zein, Senior Vice President, Creative Format Development and Sales. “‘The Bachelor’ has been a strong performer around the globe, both in its U.S. finished version and in local-language versions,” said Zein. “The strong emotional content and universally accessible concept – everyone can relate to looking for love – make it perfect for broadcasters around the world.” A hit in the U.S. where it begins its 15th installment on the ABC Television Network during the 2010–11 television season, “The Bachelor” is also a global success, with the U.S. version licensed in over 140 countries around the world by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. And local broadcasters have fallen in love with the format, with WBITVP successfully launching more than 20 local versions of both “The Bachelor” and its hit spinoff “The Bachelorette,” in territories ranging from Germany, France, UK, Canada, Sweden, Netherlands and Israel. In “The Bachelor,” one lucky man is offered the chance to find true love – and a bride – in this long-running hit relationship series. The Bachelor embarks on a romantic journey, getting to know a bevy of beautiful bachelorettes and gradually narrowing the field to the one woman to whom he may propose marriage in the dramatic season finale. “The Bachelor” was created by Mike Fleiss (“The Bachelorette,” “Bachelor Pad,” “High School Reunion”), who executive produces the U.S. version along with Martin Hilton (“The Bachelorette,” “Bachelor Pad,” “High School Reunion”) via Fleiss’ Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television.
