The WB Gives “Everwood” The First Full-Season Pick-Up Order For A Drama As Its Record Ratings Have Turned The WB Monday Into A Powerhouse
(October 7, 2002 – Burbank, CA) – The WB Network has given a full-season, 22-episode order to its new hit series “EVERWOOD,” making it the first freshman drama on television to receive a back-nine episode order, it was announced today by Jordan Levin, President, Entertainment, The WB.
“We’ve finally found the perfect partner for our number one series ‘7th Heaven,’” said Mr. Levin. “'EVERWOOD’ has been a creative, critical and ratings success for us from the start. It was the first series picked-up by any network this season and we’re thrilled to make it the first drama to get a full season order as well.”
“EVERWOOD” came out of the gate strong with the best time period premiere in The WB’s history and has shown significant ratings growth each week since its debut on September 16. After only three airings, the new drama has shown outstanding retention of the ‘7th Heaven” audience and week-to-week ratings growth. In its most recent airing, “EVERWOOD” retained 81% of ‘7th Heaven’s” audience in persons 12-34 and 85% of the teen audience. The drama also ranked #1 in its time period in female teens (5.3/17) and #2 in women 12-34 (4.0/11).
Also a hit with critics, “EVERWOOD” premiered to glowing reviews. With its focus on quality writing and compelling stories of a father (Williams) trying to reconnect with his teenage son (Smith) and young daughter (Vivien Cardone), “EVERWOOD” has been called the season’s best new series by numerous publications. # # #
